Our Letter to Senators Kaine and Warner
Hello, my name is Avery and I am a 16-year-old student in Hampton Roads. With school starting virtually for hundreds of thousands of students, I worry about Virginia’s student mental health, not only because I am a student but also as the president and founder of the Hampton Roads chapter of Letters to Strangers, an organization founded chiefly to foster youth-for-youth mental health awareness. If you do indeed have a written plan for mental health services and education statewide, our organization would love to see it! As a mental health organization in Virginia, we just want to make sure that we are up to date on all of the resources being provided to students in this area. If you do not have an outline of these services, please remember to keep mental health in mind as you are making your decisions.
